Benjamin Guedel

Swiss artist Benjamin Guedel has a pulp style that makes me want to light up and have a neat scotch, maybe some cold jazz playing. And for me that’s just about perfect. For some of you, too.

Andrew Brandou

The artist of many a children’s book style sacrilege, Andrew Brandou, has a new show up at Corey Helford Gallery. Just thought you might like to know in case you want your fucking mind blown away. Thought so.

Analog Miniatures

Flickr user Danmcp has some amazing little miniature analog machines made out of carboard. The detail is damn near perfect. If I had 60 bucks or so to shell out for one it would be sitting on my desk right now. I’d like to get a whole studio set and photograph lizards pretending to use them. But that’s just me.

The Harvest: Batch IV

Thinkspace Gallery has a preview up of all the available work in their new show The Harvest: Batch IV. You won’t find a show with this many up and coming artists anywhere else, and you shouldn’t even try (I’m scared you’ll prove me wrong). If you’ve ever wanted to be one of those people who buys a dirt cheap work from an artist who later becomes super-famous, now is your chance. Plus the paintings are good so that’s a reason, too.

The Harvest: Batch IV is going on now at Thinkspace Gallery

Miranda July

Artist/Director/Writer/Actress/Cutie-Weirdo Miranda July has made a site for her new book (it’s not out yet), and it’s awesome in simplicity, honesty, and humor. She seems like a good person to eat bagels with.

Kurt Vonnegut - 84

Kurt Vonnegut died today. I’m not posting anything else because one of the last people on planet Earth that I look up to is gone.

“When Hemmingway died he put a period on his life, old age is more like a semicolon.”
