The portfolio of Mats!? looks like a cross between R. Crumb and Ed Roth. The colors, the gore, the action. It’s like an old horror comic in a modern illustrative style. Most of all I think it appealed to me because of my supreme love for the comic Madman created by Mike Allred. If you haven’t read any of that series you’re probably going to get cancer of the foot and die painfully. Second on my list of Mats!? loving criteria is that anyone who’s made art for Mr. Bungle, Melt Banana, and The Butthole Surfers pretty much immediately gets raised on high in my esteem. I mean, damn. So check the portfolio, and maybe buy a print or two.
