Hope Gangloff

We lived in an apartment in Williamsburg for 3 months when I was 8 years old. My dad had a job in New York and we went with him rather than stay home during the Summer. All I really remember is that it was weird not having a yard. This was before Williamsburg became the current hipster haven. Hope Gangloff’s colorful creations are a slice of that modern Williamsburg, with enough hipness to warrant only an Ed Banger records soundtrack. Her images are hashy, and built on primary colors. Not to mention, the intricacy of the background detail is much appreciated. It makes me long for the house parties and late nights of my collegetown past. Only a little though; there’s a limited number of times that you can throw up in a trashcan and want to try again the next night.
