David Pache has compiled a great visual list of some of the top brand identity designers in the world today. But instead of showcasing their various works, he just displays their own logos. The best way to judge a design firm is by the design they do for themselves? If you’re looking for inspiration, or just an interesting comparison of styles, then this will probably give you a good half hour’s worth of viewing pleasure.
Just some good, clean, electrically bright, and possibly schizophrenic illustration for your Friday morn. If it’s not morning where you are, then you like in the wrong place. I’m sorry you had to find out this way. It’s morning where Jasper Wong is, because he, like me, is awesome. If it depresses you to find out that you’re not awesome, then let me give you the sage advice I’ve already given someone else today: why don’t you just go cry into your vagina.

South African design badasses The Motel get the honor of being my first ever experience with the .za domain. I might have to make it a point to seek more out if Motel’s work is any kind of standard. They’ve got some innovative design work sandwiched with an excellent illustrative hand. Extra points for weird domain, but you didn’t really need them to push you over the top as today’s feature. Now if only that award came with any sort of actual prize aside from three extra hits on your site. I’m gonna have to start making medals out of construction paper.

UK artist Jon McNaught crept onto my radar via It’s Nice That, and now I hope he never leaves it. His wry, wonderfully composed, muted illustrations gave me somewhere in the neighborhood of 1 billion ideas. A lesser brain might have exploded. These are the illustrative equivalent of a quiet Autumn street at night when no one is around, and you can just barely hear someone playing soft piano in a house a block away.
Eat sweet, hot motion you sonsofbitches.
These artworks are like trying to eat a Slayer album and then wash it down with broken glass while high-fiving every monster from every nightmare you had as a kid. And if that sentence doesn’t work for you then just try the words “awesome” or “gnarly”. Either way you’ll understand what I mean. Buy me one of these paintings and I will get your face tattooed somewhere on my body. Seriously.
