Hey You Guys!

Hey You Guys

Secret Still Best Friend 4eva Israel Sanchez hit me this morning with the news that the second annual Hey You Guys! charity art event and auction (previously mentioned) is going on. A grand slam roster of artists has once again come together to create works inspired by their favorite movies and then sell them to you with all the profits going to DonorsChoose.org to help school children get the materials they need to learn and create. Think of the children! The online auction is already live and will run until Sunday, December 13. If you’re in the LA area, you can bid on the items in person on December 5 at the Rialto Theater in Pasadena, where they will also be screening Ghostbusters. Even if you lose you win. If I was talking instead of typing, I would be yelling and spitting all over the place, that’s how excited I am about this! Note exclamation point; nuff said.

Hey You Guys: Auction Underway

Hey You Guys
Those of you that haven’t smoked your short term memory away will probably remember that I mentioned an art auction/movie screening going down in the greater LA area. Those of you that don’t even remember coming to this site a few seconds ago should click here for a reminder. And you should also give me some of your weed. Clearly you have too much, and for your protection I’m gonna have to take some of it off your hands. I care about you that much. But before we go getting smug together you should know that the aforementioned art auction is now underway and awaiting your bids. There’s some great works to be had in the line-up, and the monies go to a good cause. You don’t need more of a reason than that. And be sure to turn out on Saturday (November 15th) for the screening of The Goonies at the Rialto in South Pasadena. Write it on your calendar, because I know you’re gonna forget this as soon as you remember where you put your lighter.

Israel Sanchez: Hey You Guys!

Hey You Guys

Secret Still BFF Israel Sanchez (previously mentioned) hit me with some electronic correspondence this morning about a great event he’s a part of down in LA. It’s a combination movie screening and art auction based around 80’s kid’s movies. The event launches on November 10th with the beginning of the art auction and culminates with the end of the auction on the 15th when the crew of artists involved will be screening “The Goonies” and having a raffle. The whole event benefits Donors Choose, a charity that buys art supplies for school classrooms. The auction goes down here, and the screening is at The Rialto in South Pasadena. There’s a big list of great artists involved, and I know that you love you some Goonies, so mark your calendars and help out.

Sk8ology

Sk8ology
Just a quick note to let you know that ISM’s art auction, titled Sk8ology, is now in full swing. As the name implies all the works are on skate decks, which is kind of played out, but it’s the giant roster of amazing artists that makes everything worthwhile. Oh, and the good cause. The proceeds go to support Now That You Know, a non-profit that gives girls from developing countries a “secure environment for learning and growth.” If you want to know more about the show/auction you can check here. Get over to the auction page now or later. You’ve still got 17 days until the auction runs out. But don’t put it off and forget like you did with that one girl’s birthday. You remember how pissed she was?

Sotheby’s 20th Century Design Auction

Holy crap. There’s more modern design furniture than you can shake a bentwood chair leg at in the Sotheby’s 20th Century Design Auction. You could stack 8 Frank Lloyd Wright houses on top of each other and furnish every one of them. And then you could call it a commentary on modern design and sell it for 3 times it’s actual value. You would do something like that, wouldn’t you? Ass.

If you’ve got an extra $50K or so sitting around you might want to peruse the catalog and buy yourself some nice tables. Or give it to me and I’ll go on Fear and Loathing style bender in Thailand wherein I will drink snakes blood and cage-fight spider monkeys with pieces of glass glued to my knuckles. And keep the leftover $48K to put in my IRA, because when I’m old I’ll be 10 times as crazy. My grandkids will call me switchblade.
