Beautiful Decay has a nice interview up with Erika Somogyi (mentioned previously). I was going to get a quick interview with her (and I may still), but B/D beat me to the punch. Oh well, I can’t even post the interviews I have in the can until the new site is launched. Maybe this weekend. Until then enjoy some professional journalism, not my rinky dink crap.
One of my skate/music heroes, Tommy Guerrero, has a quick, but interesting interview over on SFGate. He covers a lot of ground in ten questions. If you get a chance you should check out his new album Return of the Bastard; there’s an online stream of some of the new tracks over here, or if you’re in the Bay Area you can drop by the release party at 12 Galaxies next Friday. I’m probably going to try and squeeze that one in. First Fridays are always busy.
There is a great interview with Eric White on Fecal Face. Manuel Bello is his interviewer, and he does a great job of covering the gamut of questions while still maintaining an interesting conversation. Read it all.
The Believer has a great interview up with Art Critic/Writer Dave Hickey. Some of it I agree with, some I don’t, but I like all of it. Relax for a minute and read.
Juxtapoz has a great feature up on Audrey Kawasaki. It’s always nice to see an artist whose work I’ve been following for years blow up bigtime. She’s booked out with shows all over the place and her stuff just keeps getting better. Warms my heart and tickles my mustache.
Fecal Face has a great interview up with New York street art collective, Faile. There is a lot of buzz about their upcoming super secret show somewhere in the NYC. I can’t imagine that it will be anything but fucking mindblowing. In case you didn’t know, these guys are big time legends in street art.
Fecal Face has an interview with #3 in my Top Ten Artists, Sam Flores. You get a chance to see a lot of the work that will be in his new show and also the creeptastic torture room he has in his studio. Killer.
There’s a great interview with illustration God James Jean over at The Little Chimp Society. Looking at work that great inspires me to try and reach that level and at the same time it makes me question whether I have any talent. Luckily my ego is enormous.
The Ape over at The Little Chimps Society has an interview up with the design/illustration firm Tado. If you’ve never seen their work its sort of like Japanese kid’s animation after a serious pixie stick binge. Which makes for a pretty awesome style in my book. Peep, don’t sleep.
